Mangaluru: Urging the government to fulfil their demands, South Zone Motor Transport Welfare Association has called for an indefinite strike from 30th March, in an interaction with media.
South Zone Motor Transport Welfare Association Leader, Karnataka State Lorry Owners Association President GR Shanmugappa said that according to the strike, private buses, lorries, taxis and maxi cabs are expected to stop plying on the roads in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andra Pradesh, Telangana and Pondicherry from 06:00 a.m on 30th March.
"The rise in insurance premium of insurance companies and third parties, toll collection at the toll gates where profit and road construction expenditure incurred by toll fee and others have forced us to call a strike demanding the union government to interfere in the problems to resolve them immediately.”, he further added.
Various association leaders including, Karnataka Bus Owners’ Association, Udupi District Lorry Owners Association, Dakshina Kannada District Lorry Owners Association and others stated that they would support the scheduled strike from 30th March.
