Hubballi: With the Pulse Polio campaign being undertaken from April 2 to 5 in the first phase and from April 30 to May 3 in the second phase, the district administrations of Dharwad, Haveri and Gadag are making arrangements to make it successful.
The Deputy Commissioners of the three districts have chaired meetings to make the campaign successful by taking it to the doorsteps of beneficiaries.
In Dharwad district, there are 2,48,122 children aged less than five and to reach out to them, 888 booths and polio centres (at bus and railway stations) were being set up. In addition, 49 mobile Pulse Polio units are being set up.
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad Ibrahim Maigur, students, non-governmental organisations and personnel of various departments are involved in the exercise.
In Haveri district, 930 booths are being set up to reach 1,99,143 beneficiaries. To ensure smooth implementation, 93 vehicles are being deployed with 186 supervisory staff, according to Deputy Commissioner of Haveri M.V. Venkatesh.
To create awareness among the public, students and members of non-governmental organisations are being roped in to conduct awareness jathas.
