Police nab 4 persons in Ankola alleged of supplying of 'Brown Sugar' in the district

Ankola: District Crime Investigation Branch Squad Police on Tuesday arrested four persons involved in the alleged charges of supplying intoxicant product Brown Sugar here in Baleguli in the taluk. The arrested are identified as Narayan Bhagwat (35) and Chandrahas (29) of Ankola, Veerabhadra Hegde (43) of Siddapur and Praveen Bhat (30) of Hubballi.

Police have recovered three packets of narcotics product weighing 2.6 kilograms, two cars and four mobile phones from their possession.

Uttara Kannada district SP Shivprakash Devaraju informed that the alleged were arrested when they were plying from Yellapur to Ankola. It is yet to be ascertain that who supplied the narcotics to them and where they were taking to. For the first time in the district, drugs were seized on such a large scale. The investigation on who the accused are in contact with is also being processed, said SP Shivprakash.

The Samples have been sent to the Bengaluru Laboratory to examine the quality of the seized product, whose report is expected to in the next couple of days. Earlier, the sale of brown sugar was active in Bengaluru, where in an African gang was involved, which was successfully abolished by the police. Now it is necessary to identify with who all the arrested are in connection with.

SP said that Police have been very active in ending drug trafficking for the past 6 months with raids conducted at Sirsi and Dandeli. From where all these conspiracies are conducted will ascertained and strict action will be taken against whoever is behind it. In this connection, information is being sought from the Police department from Udupi, Mangaluru, Belgaum and Hubli divisions.

DCIB's Inspector Nischal Kumar, ASI Vincent Fernandez, Manjunath N Nayak, Constable Sadanand Savant, Ganesh Naik, Rodrish Mitrani, and Madhaw Naik has participated in the proceedings. The SP also announced a cash prize to the police team for the successful operation.
