Dharwad: Stating that law and order in the twin cities has collapsed, the BJP has decided to launch a protest in front of all the police stations in Hubballi-Dharwad shortly.
Informing this to media persons in Dharwad, BJP leader Nagesh Kalburgi stated that anti-social activities are on the rise in twin cities, and the people who are raising voice against them or filing complaints at the police stations, are being attacked.
The murder incidents too have arisen in the City limits and the Police Department is yet to step in to prevent such crimes.
Recently, a few 'goons' attacked on the house of Ward Number 16 corporator Basavaraj Muttalli, and women and children have been injured in the attack. The corporator was attacked because he tried to prevent anti-social activities like gambling and matka in his locality.
This incident has ignited fear among the common man to raise voice against anti-social activities going around in their areas.
If the same situation continues, the illegal activities wil thrive and the miscreants will have no fear on law and the police, he said.
He also pointed out that illegal bar and restaurants had mushroomed in the twin cities, especially in residential areas, and were posing a threat to the peace in the surrounding areas. And this was happening due to the authorities concerned keeping quiet over the issue, and were hand-in-glove with these illegal bar and restaurants.
The Police Department has to immediately arrest the people who are involved in illegal activities and put an end to anti-social activities in the twin cities, he added.
If the police fail to give protection to the general public, curb such illegal activities, and retain the faith kept by the people on the Police Department, the BJP would be staging protest in front of the police stations in twin cities, he cautioned.
