Police constable arrested for abetting prostitution racket in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A police constable attached to Parappana Agrahara police station has been arrested by the Mico Layout police as he has been charged of abetting a gang which runs a prostitution racket in the city.

According to sources, on getting the evidence, Mico Layout police raided a villa in BTM Layout and uncovered a prostitution racket on 17th April,  Monday.

With regard to the case, four individuals namely Usman, Naresh Singh, Farvaze Khan and Sharavana were arrested by the police. During the interrogation, the accused revealed that the head constable attached to the Parappana Agrahara police station Karibasavaiah had aided them in running the racket for the past three years.

"It also came to light that he had also assisted them to find a house and assured them that the police won't be coming anywhere near it", said a senior police officer.

Police sources said that one of the accused gave out the name of the constable and after verifying his call records they reached to a conclusion that he had been helping the gang. Even money was being transferred to his account by the gang members. "He has been booked under various sections of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and IPC", said an officer from Mico Layout station.

"Investigation is going on to find if any other police personnel are involved in such rackets", said a senior police officer.
