Sirsi: “Ayush systems of medicine can become more popular and come to the rescue of people if people are made aware of the effectiveness of the herbal medicines”, said zilla panchayat member G N Hegde Muregar.
Speaking after inaugurating the taluk-level Ayush convention in Sirsi recently, he said that Uttara Kannada district was a treasure of medicinal plants. But not many people were aware of the medicinal properties of those plants. This ultimately discouraged people from adopting treatment near to nature. Therefore, more people must be informed about the medicinal properties of various plants.
Nisarga Hospital chief Venkataramana Hegde said that the number of people suffering from various diseases had been increasing due to the modern fast-moving lifestyle. Indian system of medicine helped in addressing most of the lifestyle-related health problems from the root.
