Mangaluru: Commissioner of Police N Shashi Kumar has appealed to people not to pay heed to rumours.
He clarified that no individual was attacked in Ullal. The rumours of an attack on two persons in Ullal and near MRPL is far from the truth.
Rumours were being spread on social media that an attempt was made to attack a man in Ullal and he allegedly escaped from the attack.
“I have visited both the spots and verified, after speaking to the locals, and also, about the man, who had made the allegations.”
“The man, in Ullal, had said that he was anxious and felt that someone was following him, which was actually not true,” said the commissioner.
The commissioner said after two murders in Sullia and in Surathkal, the region had become sensitive.
“All kinds of precautionary measures have been taken so that the law and order situation is not affected. In three shifts, our police personnel from Uttara Kannada and Chikkamagaluru districts, along with the city police and KSRP personnel, are strengthening security. Section 144 has also been clamped and all efforts are being made to bring normalcy in the region. People should not panic,” he added.
