Kundapur: The parents of the children whose children died in the accident in Hemmady village, are unable to recover from the pain and trauma of losing their children.
“Why did God take away our two children? They were playing around here till yesterday morning. I cannot believe that they are not here anymore,” said Rita, who lost her two daughters in Tuesday’s accident. Her daughters Clarista who was studying in class 7 and her sister Clasrrissa who was in the first standard, died in the accident, which has plunged the entire Hemmady village into sorrow.
At the house in Trasi where siblings Ansita and Alvita died, the relatives of the twin girls are in a state of shock. Alwyn Olivier and Reshma Olivier’s only son, Renvila, survived the accident. Renvila is unaware that he will no longer be able to play with his sisters Ansita and Alvita. Madhwaraj visits injured Kundapur kids
A day after a road accident in which 8 children from Hemmady died, Minister for Fisheries Pramod Madhwaraj visited the KMC hospital in Manipal on Wednesday morning. Six children are undergoing treatment there. Madhwaraj met the doctors treating the children and enquired about the condition of the children at the hospital.
He and other leaders tried to instil courage in the minds of the parents, whose children are being treated at the hospital. The children admitted at the KMC hospital are Anson (11), who sustained mandible fracture and splenic injuries, Minora Risha Dias (10), who sustained multiple facial fractures and Mario Olivera (7), who sustained injuries on his forehead. Mario Olivera’s condition is stable, hospital sources said. Fiona Crasta (8), sustained head injuries. She is under observation. Orpah Crasta (7), who sustained splenic injuries, is undergoing treatment. Injured girl Lisel Crasta’s (5) condition is critical. She is undergoing treatment for frontal bone fracture and subarachnoid hemorrhage, a condition wherein it bleeds in the area between the brain and the thin tissues that cover the brain. Madhwaraj interacted with the media afterwards. He said he has spoken to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about Tuesday’s incident.
Five injured children discharged
Kundapur: A Total five children and teacher Philomena, who sustained injuries in the school van accident on Tuesday, were admitted in Chinmaya Hospital in Kundapur here. Except for Philomena, a 34-year-old teacher, all the children admitted in the hospital were discharged by Wednesday afternoon, hospital sources . Dr Dinesh Shetty, an orthopaedic at the hospital, who treated the children, told reporters that Philomena has bone fractures, and that she may need some more days to recover. MP Shobha Karandlaje told ‘reporters that she will be visiting the injured children in the hospital in Manipal on Thursday. “I will also speak to SP K Annamalai about the possible ways to curb the speed of the private buses on NH-66, she said”.
