One student drowned, two rescued at Tengingundi Beach

Bhatkal: One student drowned at the Tengungundi beach while two others were rescued when three of them went for swimming Saturday noon.

Ratan Irappa Naik, Nagendra Tipayya Naik, Puneet Kamlakar Moger all 12 years old, are students of Tengungundi Govt school in the 8th standard.

It is said that a Pooja program was held at Ratan Irappa Naik's house and the other two friends were invited to attend the program. Soon after lunch all the three friends went to the beach where the incident took place. Local fishermen rushed to the sea and rescued two boys Nagendra and Punit and were later rushed to Kundapur after giving the initial treatment at Bhatkal Govt hospital.

Search operation for Ratan, only son of Irappa Naik, who drowned in the sea is being carried out to trace the body.

A case has been registered in Bhatkal Rural police station.
