Officials told to credit crop loss insurance to farmers

Karwar: Uttara Kannada district has received a deficit of 44% rainfall durign rabi season and has resulted in hgue loss to the farmers, stated  Zilla Panchayat (ZP) President Jayashri Moger. She was presiding the KDP progress review meeting in Karwar. She added that the process of crediting crop loss insurance directly to the bank accounts of the farmers should be completed soon.

Las year, the district had received 32% deficit rainfall. Mundgod, Haliyal and Yellapur have received almost 85% less rain. Agriculture officials siad that 63% farmers have been covered under the crop insurance and they would be getting insurance amount 2,180 farmers have registered their names for insurance and there is a need of Rs 20 crore for input subsidy, she added

In Kharif, 39,000 farmers have incurred loss. 75% work on collecting the bank details has been completed, she said.

On getting power lines to anganwadi centres, the officials said thath measures have been taken to supply power to 1,571 anganwadi centres of 493 anganwadis have already got pwoer connection.
