Bhatkal: Acting on a authentic information, government officials reached a marriage hall here at Bunder Road Cross and took legal action to stop the marriage of a minor girl.

It is said that a 25-year-old man from Akialoor was about to tie knots with a girl who was not yet 18 years old.  When the matter came to the notice of the officials of the Women and Children Welfare Department, they rushed to the spot and inquired about the age of the girl and stopped the marriage process as she was less than 18 years old. They also warned the parents that the girl would not be married off until she becomes adult legally.

Government officials Ganga Gowda, Kusuma Gowda, Sushila Moger, Rekha Sanhiya Gangi, Sunil Gaonkar and Lady Police Officer of Bhatkal Town Police Station Jaishri Harikant and others took part in the operation.
