Bhatkal: As the crescent moon of Shawwal was not sighted anywhere, the first day of Eid Al Fitr in Coastal Karnataka including Bhatkal will be celebrated on Wednesday, 5th June.
Confirming the non-sighting of moon, Bhatkal Qazis Maulana Iqbal Mulla Nadvi and Maulana Khwaja Akrami Madani declared Tuesday as the end of Ramadan. They also urged the Muslims to celebrate the festival according to the principles and teachings of Islam and pray for the peace and communal harmony in the region.
They informed that the people in Coastal Karnataka kept an eye out for the crescent moon after Magrib prayer on Monday, but there was no response of sighting from any side.
Following the decision from Bhatkal Qazis, the Jamaat Ul Muslimeen committees in the neighbouring regions including Kumta, Manki, Murdeshwar, Saralgi, Samsi too announced the first day of Eid Al Fitr on Wednesday.
On the other side, Udupi and Mangaluru Qazis Twaka Ahmed Musliyar and Beklar Ibrahim Musliyar respectively, too declared that Tuesday will be the last day of Ramadan in both the districts.
