Navy Vice-Admiral succumbs to Covid

Karwar: Indian Navy Vice Admiral and Director General of project seabird Srikant breathed his last in Delhi on tuesday, due to Covid-19. He was 60.

He is survived by wife and daughter. Srikant was basically from Jalahalli in Bengaluru. He has served as Inspector General of Nuclear Safety and Commadnant of National Defence College.

He was one of the senior officer of submarine division of the Indian Navy.

The Vice-Admiral was due for retirement on December 31. Before joining the Armed Forces, he was trained in Sainik School in Vijayapur.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed his condolences and tweeted,"Deeply pained at the untimely and sudden demise of Director General Seabird, Vice Admiral Srikant."

The minister said the MInistry of Defence and the Indian Navy will always remember his stellar contributions and remarkable service to the country.

"My deepest condolences to his bereaved family and friends. Om shanti!" he added.
