Karwar: The naval hospital will be utilized to quarantine in case of any suspected cases of Covid-19 is detected, said Deputy Commissioner K Harish Kumar.

He told Express that he had written to the navy stating that the service of naval hospital will be utilized to quarantine if any suspected case is reported.

“We have got an in-principle approval in this regard and the same has been communicated to the naval headquarters,” he said.

He said this would be just in case of emergency and in addition to the facility created at Karwar institute of medical sciences. He said thermal scanners will be provided to the Health Department at Karwar, Karwar Port, Gokarna, Murdeshwar, Sirsi, Mundagod and Dandeli to detect such cases.

“The thermal scanner measures the body temperature just by scanning the body,” he said, adding that sufficient safety equipment have been stored.
