Mangaluru: Mohammed Nazeer took charge as Commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation. He was previously working at a Mangaluru Urban Development Authority as a Commissioner.

He succeeded Dr.HN Gopal Krishna who is now transferred to Bangaluru Urban Development secretariat. 

Mohammed Nazeer has a bachelors degree in civil engineering and has served as Deputy Director of statistics and planning, to which he was appointed through KPSC . He has also worked as a planning officer in the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath.

Mr. Nazir said that Mangaluru is likely to get selected in the second list of smart city project of the Union government. Once it got selected, funds to be granted should be made use of properly for the integrated development of the city. His priorities would focus on plugging loopholes in resource mobilisation. The corporation should get revenue from various sources. Property tax collection should be augmented.He would focus on the implementing the proposal to build a state-of-the-art bus stand at Pumpwell.
