Haliyal: As a part of the initiative proposed by the Chief Minister and Forest Minister to plant one crore saplings throughout the state, a programme will be held at Kreeda Bhavan in Haliyal on July 2.

S Ramesh, DCF of Haliyal division, said Minister R V Deshpande will inaugurate the event, which will be presided over by Prema Torangatti, civic chief of Haliyal.

As many as 11,173 saplings will be planted in about 213 places of Haliyal under the programme.
