Mangaluru: Customs at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) have seized 7,692g of 24ct purity gold, valued at Rs 40 lakh in a month, from November 1.

The gold was seized from 10 male passengers arriving from Dubai. The contraband was smuggled through different methods, such as concealment in LED bulb, wristwatch, keypad of mobile phone, trolley bag beading, silver coated plates in cappuccino maker, in paste or powder form inside layers of carton box, double layered vest, in underwear and socks, and in the rectum.
