Mangaluru: A scuffle over a trivial issue ended with the stabbing of a man in Ponnodi in Bantwal taluk on Monday night.

According to Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Rishikesh Sonawane, the man who was stabbed, was identified as Asif (37). The accused, Mohammed Naufal Maripalla and Mohammed Nasir Maripalla, were arrested.

Naufal and Nasir had protested against Asif’s repeated honking while he was riding on his two-wheeler near a hotel in Ponnodi.

Naufal and Nasir had again stopped Asif in Shanthiangadi and had issued a threat to him.

Asif contacted his friends Ansar, Kaushik and Nizamuddin and informed them about the threat.

Asif and his friends got into a heated exchange with Naufal and Nasir near a hotel in Ponnodi. In a fit of rage, both Naufal and Nasir stabbed Asif.

The bleeding Asif was shifted to a hospital in Thumbe. Later, he was shifted to Mangaluru where he breathed his last.
