BJP stages protest against George in Mangaluru

Mangaluru:  BJP activists barged into the premises of Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Tuesday and continued their protest seeking the arrest of K.J. George, Minister for Bengaluru Development, in connection with the suicide of Deputy Superintendent of Police M.K. Ganapathy.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP; Sanjeeva Matandoor, president, Dakshina Kannada unit of the BJP and other leaders squatted in front of the entrance to the Deputy Commissioner’s office building. They shouted slogans against the Minister and the State government. The MP alleged that the Chief Minister was protecting Mr. George.

Mr. Kateel alleged that the Chief Minister was protecting Mr. George and said that the government should also arrest the IPS officers named by Ganapathy. If Chief Minister Siddaramaiah did not drop Mr. George from the Cabinet, the BJP would continue its agitation, he said.

The protestors sought the resignation of Mr. George and urged the police to book a case against him and two senior IPS officers named by the Dy.SP before his death and  dispersed after the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar received a memorandum from Mr. Matandoor.
