Mangaluru: A 69-year-old goods autorickshaw driver died after sustaining serious injuries when the vehicle he was driving collided with a car being driven by a judge of the Mangaluru First Additional District and Sessions Court at Karangalpady on Tuesday morning. Two others, including the judge, were injured in the accident.

The accident occurred near Radha Medicals on the downhill stretch leading towards the district court complex at Bavutagudda.

According to the complaint, Judge D. Vinay was driving from his residence in Hathill towards the court when the goods autorickshaw, coming down from the court road, allegedly lost control, veered to the right and collided with the front portion of the car.

The impact caused the autorickshaw to overturn and hit a nearby scooter. Its driver, identified as Chandra K. (69), a resident of Mogral in Kasaragod district, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Judge Vinay sustained a minor injury to his hand, while the scooter rider, Plevier (51), was also injured.

Kadri Traffic Police registered a case and are investigating the accident.
