Mangaluru: According to the sources, raids were conducted by police personnel at various spots including college campuses in a major crackdown upon the drug menace and around 19 persons were arrested who were found to be engaged in ganja sale and consumption here on 4th April, Tuesday.
Two dealers, Prashant from Moodushedde, and Gopal(accused for four murder cases) from Kenjaru, who sold ganja, were arrested by Kavoor police along with eight others, who had consumed it. During the raid on a college near Bondel, 600 grams of ganja was confiscated by the police.
Another raid was conducted near a college at Neermarga Merlapadavu, another drug dealer Mohammed Saleem alias Siri Saleem (29), resident of Someshwar K C Road, was arrested by rural police. Around 900 grams of ganja was seized from Saleem’s possession.
The credit for these raids goes to Barke police inspector, Rajesh, police sub-inspector, Umesh, and other staff who performed the raids. The medical reports of the accused confirmed drug usage.
A case has been registered against all of the arrested accused.
