Mangaluru: A chain snatcher fled after attacking the police officer with a knife at Padil in Mangaluru.

The assailant has been identified as Kaushik Nihal, a notorious chain snatcher, who has been involved in more than16 cases.

As per the reports, the CCB police personnels, on a tip off about the presence of Nihal in Padil went there to execute the warrant. They had planned to nab him and were discreetly waiting for him.

The efforts of the police officers went down the drain when the accused spotted the policemen and escaped the police clutches by attacking the police personnel Sunil with the knife.
