Mangalore: Mangalore deputy superintendent of police M.K. Ganapati, who had told a local news channel that a politician and senior police officers were harassing him, was today found hanging from the ceiling of a lodge in Madikeri.
A purported suicide note was found in the room, police said, adding that the reason for the alleged suicide was not known.
Ganapati, a native of Munjarayapattana, Siddhapur, near Madikeri, belonged to the 1991 batch.
His death is the second suspected suicide of a senior police officer in Karnataka this week. On July 5, Kallappa Handibag, the Chikmagalur sub-division deputy superintendent of police, was found hanging in his father-in-law's house in Belagavi district.
A former DSP, Anupama Shenoy, had resigned last month alleging interference by a minister in her work.
