Mangalore: A dead body with head ripped off was found in an isolated spot at neighbouring Kasargod taluk on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Salam (32) from Peruvad, Kumble. He was the prime suspect of a murder case.
The head was found a short distance away from the spot where the body was found. His accomplice, Naushad who is from Badriyanagar, was also found at crime scene and had sustained critical injuries. He has been admitted to a nearby hospital in Mangaluru.
Abdul Salam was the prime accused in murder of Shafique (25), who was a resident of Peral, Kumble. It was said that Salam had killed Shafique and then buried his body under a pile of sand near an under-construction house.
Police sources say that Salam was involved in other cases such as setting fire to a new Innova car and recently they he and his gang were arrested for barging into a house and created trouble on 29th April, Saturday.
The police have found two bikes and an auto-rickshaw near the crime scene and it is assumed that Salam and his gang were sitting at Melangara Kote consuming alcohol and were attacked by another gang. Police suspect that this may be the task of contract killers.
Primary investigation suggest that a previous enmity might be the cause for his demise.
The Kumble Police are investigating the case.
