Karwar: Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Roshan has come up with a plan under which the proceedings of the Mahila Gram Sabhas held in Uttara Kannada district will be uploaded on the YouTube channel. This will help in bringing transparency.
Roshan said that this would be the first-of-its-kind step in the State. Like other districts in the State, Women Gram Sabhas are held in 231 villages in Uttara Kannada. Issues related to schemes like the 'Matru Vandana', 'Matrupoorna', 'Janani Suraksha' and others are discussed at the meeting. The rural women are made aware of the benefits of these welfare schemes at these meetings. Information of 'Bal Vikas Samithi' which manages the Anganwadis is also garnered at the meeting. This apart, grievances of women are also heard.
"It is important the proceedings and discussions related to women held at these meetings reach the people. Steps taken for the welfare of the women in these villages must reach more women in other parts of the State and so, it has been planned to upload the videos of the meetings of the YouYube channel," Roshan said.
