Mangaluru: The Ramakrishna Mission will organise 'Magic for Cleanliness' at 30 locations in different parts of Dakshina Kannada from March 19 to April 2.
The drive will create awareness about cleanliness.
Ramakrishna Mission secretary Swami Jithakamanandaji told reporters that Ramakrishna Mission has been carrying out Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan for the past two years. "Through various modules, the ashrama has been trying to create awareness among the public about hygiene and cleanliness. In the third phase, around 60 different teams in Mangaluru have joined hands with the ashrama to complete 260 drives over 23 weeks," he said.
He said that along with wielding a broom to clean the city, the ashrama has been creating awareness through seminars, workshops for college students, Swacch manas programmes, workshops for housewives, door-to-door visits to create awareness on segregation of garbage, Swacch bharath rally and so on. The 30 magic shows by Kudroli Ganesh have been coupled with entertainment along with educating the masses about cleanliness.
Utilising a bus chassis in the model of a tableau, arrangements for sound system, platform, video shows and arrangements for display of magic shows are also being made. There will be two shows daily in the evening from5.30 pm to 6.30 pmand 6.30 pm to 7.30 pmin pre-designated venues. Teams have already been formed in 30 different locations for conducting this show and also for giving due publicity in their respective locality. Each team will be distributing a handbill about the show to about 2,000 people in the locality. The series of shows will conclude at Ramakrishna Math, Mangaladevi on April 2.
