Kumta: A woman was killed on the spot when she was hit by a train in Belkuli in the taluk on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Janaki Kamlakar Patgar, 45, a resident of Betkuli.

The incident is reported to have happened when Janaki was crossing the railway track when she was on her way to home from relatives place.  Gokarn Police Station PSI Naveen Naik, who visited the spot after the incident, has registered a case in this regard. The body was handed over to the family members after an autopsy at Gokarna Primary Health Center.
