Kumta: A  Kerala based tourist drowned while swimming in the sea on Thursday at Kudle Beach in Kumta taluka.

The deceased is identified Vishwanath Mohandas (28).

According to sources, Vishwanath had reached Gokarna with his friends four days ago as a tourist. They stayed at a private resort and had been to Kudle Beach in the night, where Vishwanath went on to swim in the sea. It is said that he was drowned by the high tides. 

As soon as the incident was reported, Gokarna PSI Naveen Naik and his staff rushed to the spot. The body has been handed over to the family members after an autopsy at Gokarna Government Hospital.
