Kumta: Two bike riders have been seriously injured in a head-on collision between two bikes which took place on Sunday evening at Hegde area in Kumta, which comes under Kumta town police station limits.

The injured bike riders have been identified as Chandrakanth Patgar, a resident of Bargi in Kumta and Vinayak Mukri, a resident of Majagon of Kumta. Both were immediately rushed to Kumta Govt. hospital for initial treatment.

Sources said that the incident took place when a speedy bike being driven by Chandrakanth went on to collide with Vinayak's bike. Chandrakanth received severe injuries to his head which led to immense bleeding. While on other side, Vinayak too received multiple injuries on his body, he was immediately rushed to Honnavar hospital after getting initial treatment at Kumta Govt. hospital. A lady riding pillion on Vinayak's bike has also received minor injuries. 

The immense sight of bleeding worried locals who immediately rang-up '108 Ambulance service' and took the victims to Kumta govt hospital. Police personnels rushed to the spot and conducted the necessary investigations.

In this regard, a case has been registered at Kumta police station and further investigations are on.
