Kumta: A deadly road accident had reported in the afternoon of 16th April, Sunday near town's Halkar cross, in which bike rider was killed on the spot, while pillion sustained grievous injuries after their bike met with the sudden skidding.

The deceased rider was identified as Harshvardan Venkatesh Gouda (31), a resident of Viveknagar in Kumta, while the injured pinion was identified as Maruti Ramchandra Shetty.

Eyewitness say, the speedy movement of the bike in a road with potholes, made this horrible incident to take place. The rider lost control after the bike was run speedily over a speed breaker. This made the bike go off the road skidding, resulting in the instant death of rider. The injured pillion was immediately rushed to Kumta govt hospital for treatments. As the information spread, police personnel too reached the spot and conducted necessary investigations.

In this regard, a case has been registered in Kumta police station and further investigations are on.
