Kumta: People of Uttar Kannada are particularly happy with the new state budget as it has promised an airport in Karwar. Now it has been announced that an airport will be constructed in Kumta as well.

Few months earlier, a survey was conducted in Bhatkal, Kumta, Karwar, Mirzan and Gokarna for the construction of a mini airport. The survey concluded that the area in the Muroor hills of Kumta is wide enough and high above the sea level and the amount of iron particles in this land seems to be more. Observing this, it was officially declared that it would be a perfect land for the construction of an airport. Technically, it is said that the iron particles present in the runway land facilitate the airplane during landing process. Therefore it has been guaranteed that very soon the mini airport will come up in this region. The survey work for airport has already began in Kumta.

It may be remembered that the state budget had promised an airport in Karwar. It is still unclear whether this airport at Kumta is its replacement or if Karwar will also get its own airport.
