Kumta: Cash amount along with Gold ornaments valuing in lakhs of rupees were looted away by thieves in an theft incident that took place in a house located aside the BSNL tower, in Kumta. The incident reported on 23rd April, Sunday.

According to sources, the house belonged to Sunanda Subray Naik. The incident occured when the members of the house were out to their relatives house. Observing this as a chance, the looters entered the home by breaking the main door lock, opened the wardrobes and looted away the cash amount along the gold ornaments bearing lakhs of rupees value. Not only till here, but they also turned their hands on the rent house in the first floor and stole valuables from there too. The rent house belonged to Manjunath.

From Sunanda's house, thieves took away 26gms of gold ornaments, which is estimated nearly of Rs. 72,000. Moreover, they also stole Rs. 5000 cash and a wrist watch valuing Rs. 3500.

Later they broke into a rented house at first floor, which belonged to Manjunath Shetty. They looted a diamond and other jewellery costing Rs. 45,000 along with cash amount of Rs. 3000 and also a watch of Rs. 3000. Overall the theft took away over 1.17 lakhs of valuables.

The incident came to light when the house members returned back in the next day morning. The information about the theft was immediately given to police. The police rushed to the spot and conducted necessary investigations and have registered case at Kumta Police Station.
