Kumta: Mentally unstable person injures pedestrians with knife, held

Kumta: Two pedestrians were injured, after a unstable person assaulted them near Gibbs​ circle of Kumta on Sunday.

The injured pedestrians were identified as Gajanan Jatappa Naik (41) and Ramchandra Shantwapar (40), both resident of old Herwatta in Kumta.

Eye witnesses​ said that, Gajanan was standing near Gibbs circle talking with his friend when the mad person silently turned the knife on Gajanan at his back and made him sustain injuries. Further on he went on assaulting another pedestrian namely  Ramchandra, who was walking on his way across the roadside and hurted his right leg. 

According to sources, the mentally unstable​ person was identified as Narayan of Hegde resident in Kumta taluk.

The public after observing the scene of assaulting, held the mad and handled over to police after beating him. A case has been registered in Kumta police station against accused Narayan and further investigations are on.
