KSRTC staff to go on indefinite strike from July 25

BENGALURU: The state road transport service is likely to disrupt from July 25 as the staff of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will go on indefinite strike demanding to revise their pay by 35 percent.

KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation General Secretary H V Anantha Subbarao told Express that the state government has taken unilateral decision to revise pay by 8 percent as against 35 percent demanding by the staff. It is nothing but dictatorship as the state did not take the trade unions into confidence while taking decision. Hence, 'we have appealed the other trade unions to support us in the strike', he said.

He said that as many as 1.25 lakh staff will participate in strike as the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah did not respond to the delegation which was met him on Saturday and requested to consider the demand of KSRTC employees. 'We serve notice to state government by evening to consider our demand. If state fails to take positive step, employees will go on strike from July 25', Subbarao said.

Subbarao added that demand for revision of pay is one among the total 41 demands. Providing better medical benefits, rest room facilities to women employees, etc., are other demands, he explained.
