Makkah: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has confirmed the keenness of Saudi Arabia to provide an example for protecting the rights and legitimate freedoms, and achieving prosperity and comprehensive social development, in accordance with the Islamic Shariah.

This the Kingdom hopes to achieve while preserving social security and enhancing confidence in our religion and fostering trusts between the citizen and government officials.

This was stressed in a speech delivered on behalf of the monarch by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Emir of Makkah Province, at the opening ceremony of the international conference on “Intellectual Trends between Freedom of Expression and Basic Principles of Shariah” organized by the Islamic Fiqh Council of the Muslim World League (MWL) on Sunday.

Prince Khaled said at the two-day event that as per the Holy Qur’an, humans are free to have their blood, money and honor preserved. Islam has liberated man from all kinds of worship except worshipping Allah Almighty. Man must abide by the controls ordained by Allah Almighty such that he achieves what improves his condition in this world and the Hereafter.

He recalled the stipulations prescribed by the Islamic Fiqh (Jurisprudence) Council, an affiliate of MWL, eight years ago, stating that the aim is to please Allah Almighty and serve the interests of Muslims.

The council had also prescribed that its aim was not to attack the religion or its acts of worship, rituals and sanctities, and to remain committed to objectivity, sincerity, and values of the society, not mar the social order, not to defame others, observe a balance between interests and evils, resort to reliable sources for opinions on religious and worldly matters and avoid rumor-mongering.

It is hoped that the media, means of communication and publication will be good tools for disseminating spiritual and humanitarian values and have a sense of responsibility for spreading the truth. They should beware the danger of transmitting materials and information that harm values and create sedition.
