Karwar: Kirthi Hukkeri of Kaiga in Karwar taluk has been selected to represent India in World Roller Hockey championship to be held at Barcelona in Spain from July 4 to 14. She is the only girl from Karnataka who got selected for the world championship.

Kirthi, who is being trained at Kaiga Roller Skating Club (KRSC) for the last five years, is the daughter of Yellappa Hukkeri, who works with Kaiga plant, and Sharada Hukkeri.

KRSC Trainer Dileep Hanbar and her parents said that Kirthi had participated in the National Roller Hockey camp held at Nandurbar in Maharashtra from May 1 to 5. From June 10, she will participate in the second round of training to be held at Chandigarh and then the third round of training at Barcelona.

She is a student of Atomic Energy Central School, Kaiga and is studying in 10th standard.
