Karwar: The district administration announced that it has no plans to enforce lockdown in the wake of appearance of a new mutation of Covid-19 virus strain in United Kingdom.

Speaking to reporters, Deputy Commissioner K Harish Kumar said there will be no restrictions as such, but it will be business as usual except a few dos and don'ts as per the guidelines laid down by the Union government.

"We do not have any plan of restricting people's movement from other districts, but we will follow orders of the state government. We are ready for immediate implementation of directions of night curfew," he said.

However, he said there will be no permission for any special function or any other events considering Christmas and New Year celebrations.  

He said the district administration will soon step up Covid-19 testing, Dr Gajanan Naik, dean, Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences, also spoke.
