Karwar: Murder accused caught after 14 years

Karwar: A murder accused who was on the run for the last 14 years was arrested by the police here recently.

The police caught Bhaskar Narayan Kharvi (38) of Baindur, who was one among the six accused in the murder of a woman that took place at Janata Colony in Manki in Honnavar taluk on August 10, 2006.

In 2006, six men had murdered Ganapi Thimappa Naik (45) by smothering her face by pressing a pillow hard. They had absconded with the ornaments that the victim was wearing and also those kept in the cupboard. 

Investigating the case, the police had managed to arrested five accused including Rajgopal, Anand Rama Shetty, Abhinanddan Shetty, Ravi Masti Kharvi and Naveenchandra. However, Bhaskar was absconding.

Recently, the police caught Bhaskar. He was later sent to judicial custody.
