Karwar: A woman from Yellapur has lost more than Rs 7.43 lakh after falling prey to a fake advertisement on Facebook.

The victim identified as Geetha, who is currently working as a staff nurse at Bengaluru for the last eight months, was trying to get a placement abroad. She saw an advertisement for a reputed company on Facebook.

When she dialled the number provided in the advertisement, the person on the other side requested her to register for the job by paying an advance of Rs 15,000.

No call received

And over the days, the con men started demanding instalments for the job and at the end of it, she had lost Rs 7.43 lakh.

However, in the last few days, the ‘recruiters’ stopped receiving her call.

Geetha who grew suspicious about the dealings has now raised a complaint with the CIN Police Station.

Police have formed teams to investigate the case.
