Karwar: Police have arrested six accused in connection with fraudulent sale of counterfeit gold worth 22.50 lakhs rupees in Malgi of Mundgod taluka in an incident that happened on July 16 this year, said Uttara Kannada district SP Shiv Prakash Devaraju in a press release.
The incident of fraud took place with Shiva Gowda Madhe Gowda Patil, a resident of Chikkodi, Belgaum. The police had launched probe soon after the case was filed, and after investigation, the accused were nabbed.
The arrested are identified as Veeresh Theertappa, Venkatesh Sannaveerappa, Kumar Kadi Keppa, Theertappa Kadi Keppa, Vidhyadhar Madheera, and Prashant Veeresh. A cash amount of 19 lakhs rupees have been confiscated from the accused's possession. One more accused is absconding and the search is on.
The accused were produced in court after their arrest from where they were remanded in judicial custody.
