Unorangised construction workers form association

KARWAR: Karnataka Unorganised Construction Workers Association has been formed for the welfare of unorganised workers, who have been facing injustice, informed Association district unit president N Datta.

 Briefing reporters here on Thursday, he said, "Government provides many benefits to construction workers and unorganised workers. But, due to illiteracy, they are not availing the benefits. Hence, our Association will work as a bridge to see that the benefits reach them", he said.The Association will provide all information about the various facilities provided by the government, he added.

Explaining in details, he said: "In case of any problem faced by the workers, they would approach the authority or person concerned and solve the problem. The names of workers working in all unorganised sectors will be registered and the Association will work towards developing brotherhood among all workers. In case of any problem faced by the workers, they would approach the authority or person concerned and solve the problem. A helping hand will be extended to people have health problems. 

Cultural, art, sports, educational and health camps will be organised. Education would be provided to children of workers. Talented students would be identified and encouraged. 

 The Association has been registered at the sub registrar of Labour Unions, Dharwad division and assistant labour commissioner office under Labour Union Act 1962, Section4 . At present, the Association will function only at Uttar Kannada district. Already,150 people have registered their names.

Membership fee

 Taluk-level association will be formed in the district and office-bearers will be appointed, he said.

The membership fee is Rs 100. An annual fee of Rs 25 has to be paid. The collected amount will be used for the welfare of members. 

Vice-president Sanjay Naik, Devaraj Naik, general secretary Ramesh Naik and secretary Shrikanth were present.
