Karwar: Rs 157 crore works implemented in Uttar Kannada

Karwar: "Four taluks in this district have been tagged as backward taluks and works of Rs 157 crore has been implemented here", said Dr Nanjundappa Report Implementation High power Committee Chairman Venkatrao Ghorpade on Thursday. 

 Addressing the progress review meeting at Deputy Commissioner's office, he said: "As per the report, total of Rs 170 crore has been released in last eight years for developmental activities in Joida, Bhatkal, Ankola and Siddapur which have been listed in the backward taluks. Of this fund, Rs 157 crore is utilised and 92 per cent progress achieved."

Officials have sanctioned more funds to beneficiary oriented schemes. A ceiling is fixed for this category and it should not exceed 10 per cent of total fund. Thirty per cent funds should be used for asset creation, 30 per cent for infrastructure and connectivity, beneficiary oriented scheme 10 per cent and the remaining funds for utility and services and capacity building, he said.
