Karwar: The workers' union started its indefinite strike on Monday. Under the banner of CITU, it took out a march to the deputy commissioner's office.

At Ambedkar Circle, police stopped them as the taluk magistrate had issued a notice to the organisers of the protest on Sunday informing them that they would not be allowed to enter the 200-m radius of the DC's office.

The protesters tried to rush towards the DC's office, but were taken into custody.
