Karwar (DHNS): Karavali Run, organised on Ravindranath Tagore beach, as part of Karavali Utsav, received a good response with large number of people and sports persons participated in the event.

Cine actress Aindrita Ray and Olympics runner OP Jaisa added sheen to the run which commenced at 7 am on Sunday.

As many as 1200 persons had enrolled for the run, including 200 for three hundred km run, 350 for five hundred km run and 150 for 10 km run. As many as 500 students also took part in the marathon.

District in-charge minister RV Deshpande, flagging of the event, said Karavali Utsav was planned differently this year and marathon was organised to encourage runners. Such events would help develop sports spirit among people, he said. Deputy Commissioner SS Nakul, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive officer L Chandrashekar, Additional Deputy Commissioner H Prasanna and others were present.
