Karwar (ENS): The second day of Karavali Utsav attracted a large number of crowd, including women, children and elderly people. As it was Sunday, school children were seen in more numbers on Ravindranath Tagore beach which is hosting the three-day Karavali Utsav.
On the first day’s evening, functions at ‘Vedike’ had witnessed lesser crowd during the inaugural, but it was picked up after 9 pm. However on Sunday, a large number of crowd rushed towards the utsav venue to see cultural functions that began during sunset.
On Sunday morning, hundreds of people from Karwar and nearby villages gathered for beach marathon. Children, women and athletes took part in various marathon events. Later in the day, Kabaddi matches were organized as part of the utsav. Both events witnessed a good number of competitors and supporters too. Marathon started around early morning on Ravindranath Tagore beach and Kabaddi matches were held at Maladevi ground. Participants from Uttara Kannada and other districts took part with lot of enthusiasm.
Shruti Naik, a private company employee, who was at the beach along with her family, said the second day of the festival seems more interesting as there are lesser speeches and more cultural events. “We also went to the flower exhibition and took a boat ride in the sea,” she said.
Meanwhile the adventure sports, including parasailing, motorsailing, jetsking, boat ride and others were full of people from morning. People enjoyed different kinds of beach adventure sports apart from their routine sports events.
Prakash Totad, who came from Dharwad said: “My brother works here. He invited us to the utsav here. I enjoyed riding jetski on sea which gave me a lot of thrill and happiness. When I flew high during parasailing, I felt very thrilled being high in air. I wish authorities keep organizing such events where we can enjoy adventure sports along with cultural and entertainment programmes.”
