Karwar: District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Aravind Karkikodi has alleged that the State government has become unfavourable to the functioning of government schools through its unscientific transfers of excess teachers.
He said the government had given in to pressure from private school lobby. He had threatened to stage a protest to protect Kannada schools in the district.
Identifying excess teachers on the basis of admissions in schools of last year was irrational, he noted. The government had been following the ratio of one teacher for 30 students while Parishat had been insisting on one teacher for one class.
The quality of education in government schools was better but due to such policies of government the standard had been declining, he said.
