Festival of award-wining Kannada films flagged off

Karwar: Additional Deputy Commissioner H Prasanna, on Friday, inaugurated the film festival screening award-wining Kannada films organised by Information & Public Relation Department, in Karwar on Friday.

Speaking after the inauguration, he said film festival provides opportunity for people to know and watch Kannada films which have won national and State awards. He said most of these films have social messages and they can influence the people. He hailed the department for screening movies which act as effective medium of communication.

The film festival is on till February 9. On Friday at 10 am, 'Maithri' starring Puneet Rajkumar was screened. Hundreds of students from Hindu High School and teachers watched the movie. The following Kannada films will be screened on other days. Shivayogi Puttajjaih on February 4, Thithi on February 5, Krishnaleela on February 6, Rangitharana on February 7, Thithi on February 8 and Maitri on February 9.

Information Department Assistant Director Shafi Saduddin said screening of films will is free. He called upon people to watch the movies.
