Karwar: Various issues such as garbage disposal problem in city, widening of Kodibag road and clearing the fish market confusion were discussed at the CMC general body meeting held on Monday.
CMC Member Premanand Gunaga said, some part of the road is being widened to 14 meters and at other places 18 meters at Kodibag.
Houses and shops of many people have already been demolished. Exemption has been given to only a few people. Such differentiation is not right, Gunaga said.
Garbage disposal
After discussion, it was decided that no differences should be made. It should be seen that injustice is not done to anybody, members decided.
Nominated member KT Tandel complained about irregular garbage disposal.
The wards are not being cleaned properly. The garbage pick-up vehicle does not come daily, he complained.
He said there have also been complainants of irregularities in solid waste management and using GPS in house-to-house garbage collection vehicle. He asked the authorities to place the accounts in the council.
M R Naik raised the issue of publishing an advertisement in a newspaper that cost Rs 1 lakh. “What was the necessity to publish the advertisement?
Is Karwar CMC that rich? The same amount could have been used for something better”, he said.
CMC president Ganapathy Naik, Vice-president Leelabai Thanekar, Standing committee president Neha Naik and commissioner Jattanna were present.
