Karwar: The district BJP unit recently submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner SS Nakul to clear the encroachments from the government land near KPTCL office in city.

They charged that the land was procured for providing houses for pourakarmikas, however for the last 30 years the ‘outsiders’ have been encroached this land and have denied the pourakarmikas an opportunity to have a house.

The protestors said that both district administration and State government has been using police force to evacuate locals who have encroached land. Giving the examples of how district administration used police force to clear houses and commercial buildings while widening of Kodibag Road, Toll-naka to Bandishet Road, Sunkeri-Kanjubag road, and others.

“Why such double standard is being practised by the district administration,” they asked and said that a wrong perception is being sent to the public by the administration.
