Belagavi: The central study team led by Sushil Pal from the union home ministry on Sunday reached Belagavi to access the magnitude of the losses caused by the recent floods in the district.
The team visited several places like Hukkeri, Gokak and Khanpaura taluka and carried out its inspections.
The Karnataka state government has requested financial help to the tune of Rs 765 crore towards compensation for damages caused due to heavy rains and flood across the state.
The farmers from Hukkeri taluka informed the study team that they lost their entire produce of cabbage and tomato. The farmers further informed the team that due to the floods their production suffered and they were able to produce only two tonnes of crop in half an acre of land as against twelve tonnes that they normally did.
The team members interacted with the farmers and also inspected the damages caused to bridges in Khanapur taluka.
Mr Sushil Pal while speaking with the media said that the team will submit its report within eighty days.
